Trustee directors

PFS Nominees Pty Ltd (PFS) is the Trustee of the Plum Superannuation Fund and the Plum Pooled Superannuation Trust.

PFS includes two non-executive directors, one of whom is the Chairperson, and four executive directors, including the Managing Director of Plum Financial Services Limited, Scott Hartley.

Patrick Burroughs – Chairperson

Patrick's career in the financial services industry spans more than 30 years. He has had an extensive career as a Senior Partner and Advisor with KPMG during which he headed KPMG Melbourne's financial services practice and specialised in risk management, audit, financial management and prudential supervision.

Patrick joined PFS as a non-executive Director in November 2003. He is also currently a non-executive Director of the Royal Children's Hospital, State Trustees (Victoria), MLC Nominees Pty Ltd and a member of the Companies Auditors and Liquidators Disciplinary Board, a statutory corporation created under the ASIC legislation.

Patrick is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, the Australian Institute of Company Directors and of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. He holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours).

Nicole Smith – Non-executive Director

Nicole has more than 14 years' experience in financial services.

Nicole's career has seen her specialise in superannuation where she has had extensive experience in superannuation administration, accounting and taxation matters and superannuation laws and regulations.

In more recent years, Nicole has focused on the governance, risk and compliance frameworks needed by trustees and superannuation providers to ensure quality compliant outcomes.

In addition to her role as non-executive Director of PFS, Nicole chairs the PFS Nominees Investment Committee and is a non-executive director of MLC Nominees Pty Ltd.

Nicole has a Bachelor of Financial Administration from the University of New England, is a qualified chartered accountant and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Scott Hartley – Director

Scott has extensive experience in the corporate and institutional market. Prior to his appointment as Plum Managing Director in March 2009, Scott was General Manager of Strategy and Marketing for MLC from 2005.

Prior to 2005 Scott was General Manager of Institutional Business, within MLC’s Corporate Solutions business, responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of MLC's wholesale investment and advisory businesses, including MLC Implemented Consulting and JANA Investment Advisers. He has also been a Director on the JANA Board since 2003.

In 2003 Scott managed MLC's acquisition and integration of Plum Financial Services, leading a successful change management program.

In addition to his role as Plum Managing Director, Scott is also responsible for MLC & NAB Wealth's corporate and institutional client relationships through industry leading businesses JANA Investment Advisers and MasterKey Business Super.

Mike Fitzsimons – Director

Mike has nearly 40 years' experience in financial services with a focus on superannuation.

Originally from an accounting background, Mike has held senior management positions in consulting, sales, investments and administration at Capita Group (acquired by MLC in 1990), Lend Lease Investment Services and MLC.

Mike was one of Plum Financial Services' first employees. He joined in 1998 from Lend Lease Investment Services to manage Plum's sales, marketing and client relationship management team. In 2003, Mike moved to a Business and Market Development role with the National Australia Group and was then appointed Managing Director of Plum Financial Services in 2004. Mike is currently the General Manager of Masterkey Custom - MLC.

Mike holds a Diploma of Financial Services and is a Certified Insurance Professional of the Australia and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.

Paul Maddock – Director

Paul Maddock has more than 20 years' experience in financial services and is the General Manager of MLC Investment Products and Services.

Paul is responsible for product strategy, implementation and support for MLC's wholesale and retail investment fund offers. In addition, he has responsibility for MLC's technical services, investment reporting and policy functions.

Paul has been a Director of PFS since 1998. He is also Director of National Margin Services Pty Ltd. Paul is a member of the Economics Savings and Tax Board Committee of the Investment and Financial Services Association (IFSA).

Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics), a Diploma of Financial Planning and a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia.

Richard 'Dick' Morath – Director

Dick has more than 35 years' experience in funds management and banking.

Dick currently holds several board positions with organisations that operate under the National Australia Group of companies. He is Chairman of the Distribution Board and Financial Planning companies in National Wealth Management in Australia and of the Compliance Committee for all National Wealth Management dealerships and National Australia Financial Planning.

Dick is Chairman of Medfin, a wholly owned subsidiary of MLC that provides financial services to the medical and dental market, Chair of National Australia Trustees and Director of BNZ Life. Dick is also a Director of MLC Nominees, which is the Trustee of MLC's superannuation business.

During his career in financial services, Dick has held senior and leadership roles with the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney and State Bank of NSW. He has worked as Managing Director of Australian Bank in the 1980s, was CEO of MLC Retail Funds and CEO of MLC's corporate funds business in the 1990s.

Before retiring in December 2001, Dick worked with Lend Lease Corporation as Group Executive and was responsible for relations with media, analysts, shareholders and government.

Dick has a Bachelor of Arts Degree, is a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in London and Australia and is an associate of the Securities Institute of Australia.
